Halloween at the Heard features a safe environment to experience the joy of trick-or-treating along the eerie Dinosaurs Live! Live-Size Animatronic Dinosaurs trail. Families also will enjoy an evening full of fun activities including a presentation of a family-friendly movie on the Heard's outdoor amphitheater stage, a "Ghost Town," and more. Food will be available for purchase. Tickets will be available to the public beginning September 29 (a Heard members-only pre-sale will be held September 14-28). Tickets for this annual event often sell out before the event, so the Heard encourages guests to purchase theirs as soon as possible. Admission to this event is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-12, and free for children ages 2 and under. See heardmuseum.org for more details. Halloween at the Heard is sponsored by NBC5. About Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary Proceeds from this event benefit Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, a private 501(c)3 organization. The Heard was founded in 1967 by Bessie Heard. Miss Heard was 80 years old when she saw the need to preserve a place where future generations could experience nature. Today, the Heard's mission of bringing nature and people together is carried out through education, particularly of young people, which emphasizes an appreciation of nature and its conservation. The annual Autumn at the Arboretum is upon us and we are excited to once again share 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, hailing from THE pumpkin capital of Texas, Floydada, and 150,000 beautiful fall blooming plants throughout the garden. The 66-acre Dallas Arboretum is one of the world's premier gardens, and certainly one of the most colorful. Local residents have deemed this urban oasis to be the crowning jewel of Dallas. As one of the city's top attractions, the Arboretum garners repeat visits from members, local visitors and out-of-town guests. Many praise the Garden for its beautiful vistas, colorful display gardens, and groves of pecan trees, magnolias, crape myrtles, cherry trees and azaleas. (less) ... Read more
